Water agencies and the ONEMA have made commitments in relation to four strategic approaches :

  1. The implementation of the right to water and sanitation at national and international levels ; 
  2. Integrated governance of water adapted to each basin ; 
  3. Regaining control of the quality of the resource ; 
  4. The ecosystem aspect

Commitment description

At national level, for the period 2013-2018, the agencies undertake to :

- Facilitate access to sanitation by:

supporting local authorities to ensure water treatment plants are fully equipped

increasing funding of local authorities for non-collective sanitation

ensuring, via the Onema, that more solidarity is expressed for overseas territories and Corsica so that the water infrastructure gap is bridged

- Help local authorities to expand access to water for homeless people and Travellers

 

At the international level, by way of response to the request issued by the UN General Assembly in its resolution of 26 July 2010, water agencies undertake to allocate 1% of their perennial annual financial resources to cooperation actions in the fields of water and sanitation by 2015 (or €20m per year).

How will you monitor your commitment ?

The consequences and accomplishments of the commitments will be analysed and monitored during the 7th World Water Forum to be held in Daegu, Republic of Korea in 2015, and the 8th World Water Forum in 2018. During the two forums ONEMA will provide a feedback and present the results.
