1 – What is the www.solutionsforwater.org?
The Solutions for Water is an online community platform launched by the International Committee for the 6th World Water Forum to collect solutions related to water problems. The platform has two objectives:
- To become an online knowledge hub offering concrete solutions to water problems worldwide
- To become a professional social networking site for people, institutions, organisations, companies and NGOs working in the water sector
2 – For whom is the solution for water platform and who are its members?
The solutions for water platform is for anyone interested in the 6th World Water Forum and for people who want to submit a solution related to water issues. Its members are from NGOs, government ministries, organisations, institutions and companies working in the water sector.
3 – What is a solution?
Solutions (Existing or innovative) can be legal (a law, a decree, a treaty…), technical (an appropriate device, a plant, a tool, a software…), institutional (governance structures, plans, policies…), financial (levy, transfers, tariffs…) or educational (advocacy campaigns, videos, leaflets…). 4 – How do I submit a solution?
All solutions are supposed to be submitted on the solutions for water platform via this link:
http://www.solutionsforwater.org/submit-a-solution
Please note that we no longer accept submission of solutions in word or PDF format via email.
5 - Do I need to fill in all the boxes in the platform?
Yes, it is important that you fill in all the boxes in the platform.
6 – How many targets can I choose?
You can choose a maximum of 3 targets only. Not more than that please.
7 – Why can’t I see the form to submit a solution?
If you can’t see the form to submit a solution that means you are either not logged in or you haven’t registered as a member of the platform. You need to register (create an account) or log in if you have already registered to be able to submit a solution.
8 – How do I register / create an account?
You can register or create an account on this page: http://www.solutionsforwater.org/register
9 – I have registered, but I can’t still log in or submit a solution, why?
That is because you have not yet clicked on the link you received in the activation email (confirmation email) that is sent automatically. You need to click on this link to validate your email and finalise the registration process.
10 – I haven’t yet received the account activation email (confirmation email)?
Normally the activation email is sent automatically. Please check your junk mail folder to see if you have received this email.
11 – What is the difference between the SAVE and SUBMIT buttons at the bottom of the form?
The SAVE button at the bottom of the submission form allows you to save your solution so that you can come back later to update it. But once you have finished editing the solution you need to click on the SUBMIT button. Please note that if you click on the SAVE button your solution is only saved, not submitted to us.
12 – When I click on SAVE, why is my solution erased?
When you click on save your solution is not erased. It only disappears to allow you to submit another solution. In fact your solution is saved for your review in the future.
13 – How and where do I find the saved solutions?
Once you have saved your solution you can find it on your profile. Go to your profile by clicking the username on the top tight of the website. Then, on your profile click on the SOLUTIONS tab. There you will find a list of your saved solutions. Click on the EDIT icon to update or re-edit your solution.
14 – How can I make changes once the solution is submitted?
Once the solution is submitted you cannot make any changes. That is why it is better to use the SAVE button to save your solution, take your time to re-edit it and then submit it.
15 – I have submitted my solution, why can’t I see it on the platform?
After submitting your solution, it is not published immediately. It is first processed by the 6th World Water Forum team. Once your solution is validated it will be published online. This can take two or three weeks as we are receiving many solutions from all over the world.
16 – My solution is now published, what next? Can I attend the Forum now? When will I be invited to make a presentation?
If your solution has been published congratulations! Your solution passed through a rigorous validation process before being published. But the publication of solutions is not in any way related to your attendance in the forum. The platform for solution is open to all and anyone can submit a solution whether or not he or she is attending the forum. If your solution is selected for its presentation in the sessions and conferences you will be contacted separately.
17 – My solution is now published, how can I get a letter of invitation for the visa procedure to attend the Forum?
As mentioned above the publication of solutions does not entitle you to attend the forum although you are most welcome to attend the forum on your own whether or not you have submitted a solution or your solution is published. 18 – Why is the solutions for water platform not visible on the internet explorer browser?
That is because you are using a very old version of internet explorer. Please download a new version of internet explorer, or else you may use Chrome or Firefox.
19 – Do I need an activation key to access the solutions for water platform or to submit a solution?
No you don’t need any activation key to access the solutions for water platform or to submit a solution. Please ignore the message that asks you for an activation key. You may go to www.solutionsforwater.org, put in your username and password to log in to the platform.

After submitting my solution I was expecting to apply for financial support for my participation. I continuously looking at the web site, but nothing was seen on financial support. But today I got WWF news letter where it is indicated that applications for financial support were closed on 31 st December 2011. I was shocked. Is there any possibility of making the request now? Do they extend the dead line for application? Please help.
