A filter annulus in a rotating disk gives good retention even at large pore size due to the shear lift effect, which causes suspended solids to skip over the filter.  The retained solids in the radial recirculation device are dewatered and cavitated at the periphery to extrude a disinfected paste.  Gases are continuously stripped out at the axis of rotation.
