Plants absorb moisture by a cycle of transpiration (the loss of water) and absorption of moisture through the roots by osmosis. Osmosis is the movement of water molecules through a selectively-permeable membrane.
At the core of the technology in the Moistube family of products is an inner membrane that simulates the properties of plant tissue and feeding roots. This membrane releases water at a rate consistent with a plants’ ability to ingest it in a manner very similar to osmosis.
The inner layer is a polymeric semi-permeable membrane. The outer layer is a protective permeable material. There are many invisible nano-pores in the semi-permeable membrane. In fact, there are approximately 100,000 holes (pores) per square centimetre and the diameters of the holes range from 10~900 NM.
Moistube’s membrane has been applied into 3 different applications for irrigation namely Mositube, Micro Reservoir and Smart Irrigator.
For all 3 types, the system is composed of 3 main parts, the water supply, the pipes delivering the water, and the Moistube delivery product. All offer full time, continuous and dynamic irrigation.
Moistube, Micro Reservoir and Smart Irrigator all work with relatively low pressures and operate as gravity fed systems when connected to a water tank. Irrigation networks are simple to install, very cost effective, and extremely low water use when compared to any other existing irrigation system currently available.

The membrane in all of the Moistube range functions as follows:
Due to the effect of potential energy (that can be in various forms), the water will pass through the membrane directly to the area with low potential energy. This potential energy may be solute potential, soil water potential, atmospheric water potential, root water potential, pressure potential etc. This is also exactly how water passes through roots and plants.

Moistube consists of tubes available in lengths from10mto200mconnected to a network of pipes and a water supply.
The Water Supply can be either a water tank (the gravity of the head in the tank provides sufficient pressure) or mains water (with a pressure reducing valve.
Moistube works best on level land or when following the contours of the land. Moistube requires a continuous water source to work effectively. Applications: • Lawn and turf • Crop irrigation (small to large scale) • Fruit trees growing on level land • Domestic gardens • Vegetable growing • Major landscape Projects
|
Micro Reservoir (MR) is a 3 litre bag using the same inner membrane as Moistube. It is designed to water plants and trees that are in sloping and steep sites.
Micro Reservoir does not require a continuous water supply. Instead it needs refilling approximately every 15 days.
Applications: • Fruit Trees on sloping and steep sites • Desert Forestation • Locations with only mobile water supply • Major landscape projects
|
Smart Irrigator consists of a spike using the same inner membrane as Moistube. The top of smart irrigator comprises a thread compatible with large plastic soft drink bottles, allowing low cost and recycled use of water storage containers. 2 litres of water will last 15-30 days depending on soil type. Applications: • Pot Plants • Retrofitting in domestic gardens or commercial landscape projects • Small gardens at either home or the office • Anywhere that installing an irrigation network is impractical

UAE, Australia, South Africa
now have applicated in UAE, Australia, South Africa landscape, desert irrigation, acid district agriculture irrigation. save a lot of water.
2. You must keep on watering to keep root area of the plant wet, which will consume a large amount of water and power.
3. The desert ground is uneven, sand dunes of different size are distributed irregularly, with the height range from several meters to dozens of meters, so drop irrigation equipment can’t be used without leveling, but leveling land will consume tremendous manpower and material resources on one hand, and destroy the existing landform and native vegetation on the other hand, and it will destroy the original ecosystem once again.
4. Even when the drop irrigation equipment has been used, the leakage loss will still be inevitable. Because capillary tubes of the sandy soil are very poor and with many macropores, it is easy for large amounts of water to leak downward through macropores among grains of sand; horizontal water holding capacity and side infiltration and transportation ability of the soil are poor, wet body under the water dropper is slender and with very small diameter, water flows through the slender wet body rapidly and leaks downward outside the rhizosphere in the form of gravitational water, and it is hardly to get good irrigation effect.
Based on reasons mentioned above, it is still a difficult problem for the international irrigation field to carry out irrigation on the sand land and other soil with high leakage, which influences the revegetation on such kind of areas and restricts desertification reformation and artificial ecosystem restoration. Together with global warming, land deterioration, global desertification disaster was listed by the United Nations as one of three main common disasters for all mankind, which has already been highly concerned and actively responded by the international community.
Water is the first limiting factor for desertification control and revegetation. In order to solve the problem of desert irrigation, we carry out repeated exploration and large numbers of experimental research for nearly ten years, finally find a solution, which is economically feasible, technically reliable and with high regional adaptability, and we are the first to Introduce “micro-reservoir” irrigation method in the world, which belong to moistube Irrigation Technology.
The micro-reservoir irrigation system is for such features of the desertification area, including far from water source, no people and no electricity, formulates the irrigation system of “intermittent water supply, and continuous irrigation”, realizes the “fool type” operating state that the system runs automatically without electric drive and human control, which provides effective technical support for large scale ecological construction, controlling the expansion of desertification, or cultivation fruit at mountain areas.
Moistube irrigation characteristics:
1. Water-saving irrigation: 60%~80% water deduction compared with drip irrigation
2. Automatic irrigation: simpler structures, easier maintenances, no need for professional staff to maintain and management, lower maintenance costs
3. Underground irrigation: improvement of the hydrosphere environment in the soil, prevention of soil crusting after watering, keeping the soil loose, ventilation state
4. Low carbon irrigation: no power consumption, lower operation costs, lower production costs of the agricultural products
5. Lower investment on equipments. The system is stable and reliable in the long run
6. Breakthroughs in the knotty problem of the underground irrigation: being free from congestions

Grassland conservation and Moistube Water-saving Irrigation
Experimental site: desert grassland in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China
Results and enlightenments:
1. Among the factors that cause degradation of grasslands, drought plays the key role, and water acts as the first restrictive element. Experiments illustrated that in the degraded grasslands, with only appropriate irrigation conditions, not only the pasture can grow well, but also expected economic products can be cultivated, meanwhile, the natural grass growth vigor is also exuberant although it is not planted by people, together with economic output. We can get that with only appropriate irrigation, the degraded grassland can recover its vigor in the shortest time immediately.
2. The areas with degraded grassland or serious desertification belong to water-shortage area, so the bearing capacity of water resources cannot support the consumption of common irrigation methods. This has been the conflict that confuses the world irrigation and water shortage for several years.
Being a terminal water supply technology that extremely saves water and does not consumes electricity power, Moistube Irrigation technology is very suitable for the recovery and reconstruction of degraded and desert grassland, as long as the proportion of water input volume and crop output is reasonable. If it can obtain generalization in large scale, it can greatly enhance the ecological environment in dry area, to grant stable economic incomes to local residents.
Moistube technology can help you combat desertification in your country.
