Both winegrowers and local authorities have decided to take action in order to recover a high quality of water.
Their tool is a territorial action plan designed by the Agence de l’Eau Adour-Garonne (Water agency of the Adour-Garonne Basin, South-West France), and implemented in 2008 by the ADASEA (Association for improving the structure of agricultural holdings of the Lot Department).

It consists in establishing a prior diagnosis and undertaking a number of concrete actions detailed in the territorial plan, involving agricultural holdings, local authorities and households, in the pursuit of the following objectives:
-    Reducing phytosanitary pressure at source, and limit transfer towards the water resources
-    Improving knowledge and monitoring of the water quality
-    Raising awareness on the necessity of reducing diffuse pollution
