The WaterPOD can provide pure drinking water every day for people living in remote areas without access to safe drinking water. Once installed it is entirely sustainable, needing only the energy from the sun to operate effectively. Households can therefore get pure drinking water with no running costs. In 2011 one billion people did not have direct access to safe drinking water. In 2012, we expect to produce and distribute enough WaterPOD to provide safe drinking water to over 10 000 persons all around the world.

The WaterPOD will be located all around the world where safe drinking water problems are. It will take place in isolated areas and near salt and/or brackish water such as Africa or Isolated Islands. The solution was developed for rural environment where the people haven’t a direct access to safe drinking water.

POD ™ technology was born in a statement made through meetings with isolated populations without direct resources of safe drinking water.
By living with these populations, Thibaut MAIRE was found that their freedom to use water on a daily basis must depend on a robust, easy to use, self-care free, management monitoring, free standing, durable (10 to 40 years), using renewable energy (without CO2) and non-waste pollution at end of cycle.
The Source SIT is collaborating with different actors in France. All along the project, the company was working with French Government through Region Aquitaine and the City of Bordeaux.
As well, the company collaborates with a French carpentry, Meison & Goisnard who help us to produce the WaterPOD.

Inspired by the natural water cycle, solar distillation technics of desalination of water used to treat sea water or brackish water as well as any non-potable water (water analysis on request). This technique works for a long time with low performance and no industry.
The Research and Development have helped bring a new product innovations and a patent for the Family POD with a deposit of brands: The POD ™ Pure Ocean distillation and waterPOD ™.
The Source SIT is currently expanding his activity. After preliminary testing with:
- APESA: Environmental analysis
- ISNAB (Institut des Sciences de la Nature et de l’Agroalimentaire de Bordeaux): Water quality tests
We are at the beginning of the commercialization of WaterPOD.

According to the Millennium Development goals, world leaders committed to halving the number of people who do not have direct access to drinking water by 2015. “Dirty” water is the leading cause of death around the world from diarrhea and infectious diseases. It is not the lack of water that kills; it is the effect of “dirty” water.
According to the guidelines for drinking water quality 4th Edition by OMC, new sources of water need to be developed such as desalinated brackish water.

  The Source SIT develops a concrete solution for people who do not have direct access to drinking water. The WaterPOD provides safe drinking water through solar distillation every day. The WaterPOD uses the sun to reproduce the natural water cycle. Distillation extracts all impurities and bacteria content in the salt water and brackish water.

With a tiny investment, The WaterPOD will be produce safe drinking water over 10 years. The WaterPOD lies in the distillation process by solar energy inside a robust wooden structure, 100% free standing, with no running costs, to produce a greater volume of pure water than is available from small systems currently available.
As well, the environmental impact will be very skinny because of raw materials. Wea mainly use ecological materials.

All products developed by The Source SIT Company are made to change water consumptions.
One WaterPOD could be produce 4 to 6 liters of pure water every day, and that for more than 20 years.
We will expect to provide a sustainable access to safe drinking water for each human people all over the world. In 2011 one billion people did not have direct access to safe drinking water. This solution could work in sunny areas such as Africa or Oceania with salt or brackish water areas near of communities (households, tribes,…).
The project must be supported both politically and financially by regional collectivities and governments. Indeed, there are not people living under average salary that who can get some WaterPOD.

One of the tip that we can give is to establish a small study of their needs in pure water and calculate how much that will be cost for the next 20 years. Then, they can compare with the WaterPOD.

The main factor of success that the WaterPOD  is an eco-design product robust, easy to use, freestanding, needing no maintenance or management, sustainable (from 10 to 40 years) using solar energy (without Co2 emission) and without waste at the cycle’s end.
