There is a need for water managers to permanently be informed on and supported by scientific knowledge to make their decisions. This is particularly relevant for what concerns climate change adaptation policy. Some solutions exist in terms of science-policy interface in various domains. For instance an activity on water science policy interface (CIS – SPI) is conducted in Europe to support the milestones of EU Water Framework Directive by linking the research needs relevant to water managers with scientific research advances. This provides a dynamic interface within the Common Implementation Strategy of the Water Framework Directive.
