Waterprotec is a low cost solution to reduce water’s waste. It’s a small device which is connected to the water meter. It supervises and analyses water consumption 24/7 . In case of leak, it activates an alarm. Very simple to use, it need no energy supplies, and it can supervise the consumption of an apartment, a house, a neighborhood, a building, a school, a plant. It can also equip farms, irrigation systems…

This solution equiped 48 schools of the Conseil Général des Côtes d’Armor( France). They saved about 17% of their water consumptions. A nearby solution equips the differents buildings of the association Les Compagnons du Devoir, some of Electricité de France buildings, many marinas (Cassis, La Ciotat, La Grande Motte, Lorient, Paimpol…). All these buildings are in France. However It can be used anywhere in the world providing the temperature is over -20°C.
Oxel had initiated this project. The aims were to develop devices and solutions to save water and energies. The solutions are followed- up by the different customers and by Paul CANEVET of Oxel
The solution is ready to be installed anywhere in the world where water reduction is wished.
In the world, a high quantity of treated water is wasted. Due to this problem, the cost of water is expensive and access to the water for everybody is not possible. Waterprotect indicates immediately a leak and avoid water to be wasted.
The system has proved its efficiency. Our customers are happy with it. It does to the individual as well as factories. For example The Conseil General des Côtes d’Armor has reduced their water consumption of 17%. Leaks are detected every days in lots of buildings. The product is not expensive. The cost of Waterprotect is less than 100 euros and the battery lifetime is over 10 years. Leaks will carry on to be detected everyday and water will be saved. This will allow more people access to this vital fluid.
Success over time for our solution is the involvement of people in water management and paying attention to their consumption : close the tap tight, do not leave the tap running when they clean their teeth, dishes, etc… because they don’t want the alarm to be activated. People using Waterprotect could advise their neighbours, family and friends to install it also.
Waterprotect can be installed everywhere where there is a risk of leaks and where the cost of others solutions is too high. Houses, apartments, schools, buildings, plants, neighborhood, farms, irrigation systems… They will reduce their water invoices and intakes of this vital fluid. This solution can be widely installed only if the governments allow access to the water meters. In some countries it is forbidden to connect an impulse sensor to the meter and so a second water meter need to be fitted and thus increases the costs. By having the opportunity to introduce Waterprotect at the World Water Forum, decision’s makers and leaders will be aware of our efficient and cost effective solution. This will allow its distribution worldwide, saving more water.
I will recommend governments to allow consumers to connect our solution to the water meter and to promote the installation of meters which can be fitted with an impulse sensor. If the existing meter can be fitted with an impulse sensor, the investment is only an impulse sensor and our Waterprotect system. The cost should be under 100 euros. If there is no meter or if we are not allowed to connect to the existing meter, the cost incurred will be the price of the new meter, its installation and our Waterprotect system. The main factors of success for this solution is a government which allows consumers to connect impulse sensor and therefore Waterprotect to the meter. The meter has also to be fittable with an impulse sensor.

Bien cordialement,
Paul CANEVET
