From national to local sanitation planning in Burkina

It’s a multi level planning process :

- at national level: the national plan for water supply and sanitation i’s a ten years sectorial strategy, within the framework of the National Plan Against Poverty, aiming at reaching the Millenium Development Goals. it includes a “united intervention framework” that facilitates the decentralization of sanitation planning and gives coherence to all the levels of action

- for big cities: the strategic plan for sanitation in the capital Ouaga and in the 35 biggest cities, territories under the responsibility of the national operator, the ONEMA

- for the towns and rural municipalities, the PCD-AEPA: Municipal Development plans for Water and Sanitation are implemented by the local authority with all the local stakeholders
