This suggestion is mainly an institutional solution, but it expected to develop partners technical and scientific expertise as well.
It consists in promoting,establishing, supporting or strengthening twinning initiatives in order to boost exchange of good practices and lessons learned in water management. This should gradually lead to an improvement of water governance world wide, through concrete achievements in IWRM.

The Water Framework Directive has made the assessment that research results are not sufficiently visible to the community of potential users (decision-makers, managers, elected officials, communities and even the general public) and that there is a need to better enhanced them.

The IWRM.NET project intends to respond to these needs. Its objective is to create a network of national and regional research centers in the field of water in order to look for synergies between research programmes.
