Multi-stage filtration is a water treatment suitable for small communities (up to 30.000 inhabitants) that has low maintenance and opration requierements. It uses natural processes to improve phisico-chemical and micro-biological parametres so at the end disinfection is just the last barrier to protect water until it reach the final users.

The French companies SFEC and L’Eau Pure have recently contributed to the implementation of water treatment pilot projects in Kazakhstan and Bangladesh, in rural villages suffering from drinking water access problems, through the design and operation of demonstrators involving innovative and green technologies they have developed, adapted to the local needs. These projects were funded by the FASEP “Green Innovation” tool of the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry.

This objective of this special tool is to help studying and demonstrating the efficiency and the suitability of an innovative and green technology developed by French companies to answer to specific local needs in developing or transitional countries. The local beneficiary of the project funded is a public entity (central Government, local government, municipalities, technical agencies, etc.).
