The project SILMAS (Sustainable Instruments for Lakes Management in the Alpine Space) is part of the Alpine Space Programme, itself launched in the framework of “European Territorial Cooperation” of the European Community (which goal is the harmonious, balanced development of the European territory).

Its goal is to enhance international cooperation between its 5 members (Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Slovenia), to develop a “shared vision” which seems only logical given the characteristics of the region: a common climate, relief, concentration of wealth, water and habitat.
