From targets to solutions and commitments, the 6th World Water Forum “Time for Solutions” is advocating a strategic approach to solving key water problems. Whether institutional, technical, legal, financial or communication-related, a solution is a successful answer to a problem and contributes to reaching one of the Forum’s ambitious thematic and regional targets. Commitments can then be sought at all levels and from all kind of stakeholders to strengthen the implementation and follow-up of the target action plans and promising solutions.

Water is curios molecule. It’s so important yet has been ignored by its users. Today’s scenario is discouraging. We have insufficient amount of fresh water to quench the thirst of humanity. We have insufficient amount of water to irrigate our lands. The problem is worsening each passing day. Many water forums are busy devising a strategy to establish IWRM. We know it is not an easy task.
I believe technology can help us out of this dilemma. What we badly need at the moment is understanding among the world leaders that international peace is a prerequisite for establishment of IWRM. Smooth transfer of water related technology is only possible if advanced nations stop doubting the abuse of technology by poor countries.
Space technology can help us achieve IWRM.
I am interested in breaking the jinx of non sustainable operations in Urban Water Supply in Africa. i am of the opinion that the urban dwellers of Africa should be able to pay water rates that can make an operator cover its cost and make some fair profits without government subsidy. I often ask, why are GSM operators smiling to the banks, raking billions from the same so called poor who are being shielded by international advocacy from paying for water.
@PRIYANTHI HEMAMALI RAJAPAKSA: Dear Priyanthi; when a member submits a solution it is not published immediately. It undergoes a validation process. Thank you very much for your contribution.
@Shahjahan Bhatti & @Adedayo Mark-Adeyemi: Both of you have given very interesting insights. Please carry on the discussion. Thank you;
Hi Bhatti, I am a member of the National sub-committee on IWRM in Nigeria. I think communication is a key element in IWRM. Most people do not have a clear understanding of IWRM because of the way we communicate it. At times when i read the tool kits and other resources, i am tempted to conclude that IWRM is just everything that is right in the Water and Environment at times it confuse me. How do I communicate to the stakeholders outside our field especially the impatient, vote seeking Politician? Nevertheless my own simple definition is “IWRM simply means without you, we are not complete, without your input, we are not doing it right”
Hello,
I have sent my solution in right time but why my solution was not published yet ?
please give suggestions and feedback to me
I am waiting for publishing my solution
looking forward to hearing from you
Thanks
@Adedayo Mark-Adeyemi: may be you can use blogs and social media to communicate about IWRM! We have many solutions on the platform related to IWRM. May be you can start by commenting on them and start a discussion about IWRM? For example:

@Kulmani Devkota: Did you receive a confirmation email when you submitted a solution? If yes, your solution is being processed by the 6th World Water Forum team. Once your solution is validated it will be published online. This can take two or three weeks as we are receiving many solutions from all over the world. Please bear with us. Thank you.
On Jan 25 the Mekong River Comission uploaded an INNOVATIVE SOLUTION on decentralization leading to sustainable financing of this transboundary cooperation institution. Until now this solution was neither posted nor information on its faith circulated to the proponent or to the Target Coordinator. Grateful for any feedback.
I give the UTM coordinates for the location of the solutions delivered by FESAN, “Water & Sanitation Community Learning Centres” and “Post earthquake recovery of stabilization wastewater lagoons system of Maule, Chile”, to be displayed more clearly in Google Maps.
The UTM coordinates for both are:
East 255.913.49
North 6.066.481.05
Thank you very much

Water is the resource that will determine the wealth, welfare, and stability of many countries in the twenty-first century. We need a new approach to managing water that will overcome the conflicts that emerge when the interactions among natural, societal, and political forces are overlooked. At the heart of these conflicts are complex water networks.
In managing them, science alone is insufficient but neither is policy-making that doesn’t take SCIENCE into account. Solutions will only emerge if a negotiated or diplomatic approach—that blends science, policy, and politics—is used to manage water networks. We need show how open and constantly changing water networks can be managed successfully using collaborative adaptive techniques to build informed agreements among disciplinary experts, water users with conflicting interests, and governmental bodies with countervailing claims.
In America a good example of this model is the modern water management in Mexico and Brazil, Mexico has CONAGUA(political arm) + IMTA (Scientific and Technology Arm).
Other countries leave the memory management in shed file of the consultancies, therefore the Public knowledge and information on water are not updated. It is urgent to link these two arms and integrate into a single model of politics, science and technology, and the conflicting interests of users. We are at the time of the solutions, not trials advenisos water managers.
I am still awaiting publication of the solution titled “Towards Mainstream Sustainable livelihood by way of Optimal Use of Water for Food Security through medhbandhan (field bunding) under MGNREGS in Tribal District, Mandla (Madhya Pradesh)”.
Notification of its acceptance was received immediately.

In fact , I have no particular choice of accommodation. Anything that is secure and moderate is Ok with me. I look forward to hearing from you.
